ABOUT CIGARRO

A quiet record of everything you smoke.

Cigarro is a web app for tracking and reviewing premium cigars. Cigarro is built and run from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and has been since 2025. Cigarro is a web app and a progressive web app you can pin to a home screen, with nothing to download from an App Store.

One humidor, one record, and one framework for saying what a cigar actually tasted like. The rest of this page is the why.

01What is Cigarro

What is Cigarro?

Cigarro is a cigar tracking and review app for premium cigar enthusiasts. You add cigars to a single humidor from a verified catalogue, mark when each one started resting, and review what you smoke by thirds using the Cigarro Method. The Lounge is the room next door: a chronological member feed where the same people talk it over.

It runs in any browser and installs to a home screen as a progressive web app. There is a free tier that holds thirty cigars and four paid tiers above it, and reviews are unlimited on every one of them, free included. The features page walks through what is inside, pricing covers what each tier costs, and the Cigarro blog is where the guides live.

02Why Cigarro exists

The spreadsheet, and the shoebox of bands.

Most collections are kept twice and remembered once. There is a spreadsheet somewhere, a column for the brand and a column for how many are left, last touched in a hurry. There is a shoebox, or a drawer, or a jar, holding the bands off every cigar worth remembering. Neither of them tells you what the second third tasted like, or whether the box you have been resting since spring is ready.

Cigarro began in 2025 with a small team in Edmonton, Alberta, and one wish behind it: a record that sharpens the palate rather than merely counting stock. Write down what you actually tasted, in the same shape every time, and the notes begin to argue with one another. That argument is where a palate comes from, and it is the only part of this that cannot be bought.

03What the house believes

What the house believes.

Six things, and we would rather be held to them in public than keep them in a drawer.

04How the house is run

How the house is run.

Hugh Ashby is the concierge. He writes the letters, the guides and most of the words on this site. Hugh is a persona, not a person; the app is real, and so is the small team writing in his voice. There is a longer introduction on the Meet Hugh Ashby page.

The Weekly Ember goes out every Friday. One featured cigar, one small lesson drawn from the Cigarro Method, and a line worth keeping. Free, and easy to leave.

Support is answered by a real person. Write to the house from your profile in the app and the note is read and answered properly. There is no instant-reply promise, because we would rather answer well than quickly.

06Independent by design

Independent, and staying that way.

Cigarro is independent. No cigar manufacturer, distributor or retailer pays for coverage here, and none ever will. Nothing on this site is a paid placement, an affiliate link or a sponsored post, and we neither sell cigars nor help anyone else sell them. What you read is editorial: commentary and opinion, written by people who smoke for people who smoke. If a cigar is spoken well of on Cigarro, it is because somebody liked it and said so. The privacy policy and the terms cover the rest of the housekeeping.

Keep a record of what you smoke.
