FEATURES OF THE CIGARRO CIGAR TRACKER

Every feature, explained plainly.

Cigarro is a web app for tracking and reviewing premium cigars. The Cigarro Method is its review-by-thirds framework, which records how a cigar changes from the first third to the last. Hugh Ashby is the concierge persona of Cigarro, and he writes the Weekly Ember. This page sets out what the cigar tracker actually does today: the humidor, the reviews, the Cigar Signature, the Lounge, the catalogue, and the import and export that let your collection leave whenever you please. Nothing here is a roadmap item. If it is on this page, you can use it this evening.

01What is Cigarro

A cigar tracker with a memory.

Cigarro is a cigar tracker and digital humidor that runs in a browser. It keeps a record of what you own, what you have smoked, and what each cigar actually tasted like, third by third. It is a web app and a PWA, so you sign in at app.cigarroapp.com and pin it to the home screen of whatever you carry. There is no App Store listing and no download. If you are weighing up the field first, we wrote an honest look at the best cigar apps, our own included.

02The humidor

Your humidor, properly kept.

One humidor, kept the way you would keep a real one. Every entry carries quantity, price per cigar, wrapper, binder, filler, ring gauge, length, purchase date and notes, and the app tracks how long each cigar has been resting so you know when a box has settled. Add from the verified catalogue by typing a few letters and drilling into a line’s sizes, or add by free text when the catalogue has not caught up yet. If you are still arranging the physical box, our guide to organising a humidor pairs with this, and the digital humidor guide covers the rest.

03The Method and the Signature

Smoke it in thirds. Chart what changes.

The Cigarro Method is a review-by-thirds framework. You record the first third, the second third and the final third separately, because a cigar rarely finishes the way it starts. Each third takes nine readings, along with burn line, draw, smoke output and any correction you had to make, and a flavour picker sits beside them with room for flavours of your own. The full framework is set out in the Cigarro Method.

The Cigar Signature

Two line plots across the three thirds, taste and performance, with a mouthfeel strip beneath. Every finished review carries one.

The signature is drawn from your own readings, and the same chart appears on a cigar’s community page, averaged across everyone who has reviewed it. It travels on the share card when you send a review to a friend.

04The Lounge

The room next door.

The Lounge is Cigarro’s member feed, and it is chronological rather than ranked. Post what you are smoking with up to five photos, attach one of your own reviews, and let the room answer. Members give nods, leave comments, reply once, and mention each other by handle. The public side of it sits at app.cigarroapp.com/discover, readable without an account.

05The catalogue

A catalogue worth typing into.

The verified catalogue holds 211 brands, 2,173 lines and 7,118 sizes, and you can browse it at app.cigarroapp.com/cigars. Typing a few letters is usually enough; when a cigar is genuinely missing you add it as free text and it goes to our intake queue rather than nowhere.

06Your data is yours

It arrives easily. It leaves with you.

If you already keep a spreadsheet, bring it. The importer at app.cigarroapp.com/humidor/import takes a CSV or TSV file, or a table pasted straight out of a spreadsheet, works out the delimiter for itself, and shows you a column mapper and a review step before anything is written. Nothing is silently dropped: every row you hand it ends in one stated outcome, imported, skipped, unusable with the reason, blocked by your plan cap, or failed with the error. A sheet is taken 5,000 rows at a time, and a picked file up to 5MB.

The file itself never leaves your device. Your browser reads and parses it locally, and only the finished rows are sent, so there is no upload endpoint and no file sitting on a server. Nothing inside a spreadsheet can run: it is read as plain text, formulas are stored as inert text, and unknown column headings map to skip rather than guessing at a field.

07Also included

The rest of it, quietly.

The small things that make the app worth keeping open. If you are comparing us against a paper journal or another app, the cigar journal comparison lays out the difference without any theatre.

08Questions

Asked often.

There is a free tier, Pocket Humidor, at $0 CAD. It holds thirty unique cigars and carries unlimited reviews, the full Cigarro Method, the Lounge, import and export. Paid tiers add capacity and nothing else, from $4.99 to $29.99 CAD a month. The pricing page sets out all five.

Yes, through the browser. Cigarro is a web app, so it runs on an iPhone, an Android phone, a tablet or a desktop without a download, and you can pin it to your home screen where it behaves like any other app. There is no App Store or Play Store listing, and we are not planning one.

Yes. Upload a CSV or TSV file, or paste a table straight out of a spreadsheet, and the importer works out the delimiter, matches your column names against its own, and shows you a mapper and a review step before anything is saved. It takes 5,000 rows a sheet and 5MB a file. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded.

No, and we would rather say so plainly. Cigar boxes and single sticks are not barcoded in any way that would help, so a scanner would be theatre. Typing three or four letters into the catalogue of 211 brands is quicker in practice, and free text covers anything the catalogue has not got yet.

Yes. Nothing you write is public until you choose to share it. Sharing a review gives it its own address, and unsharing takes it down again. One switch on your profile controls whether your name appears in public places at all, and photographs are re-encoded on your device so location data never leaves it.

Thirty unique cigars on the free Pocket Humidor, 200 on Desk, 750 on Cabinet, 2,000 on Walk-in, and unlimited on Private Reserve. An entry is one blend rather than one stick, so ten of the same cigar is a single entry with a quantity of ten. Reviews are unlimited on every tier.

Open it, log one.

The free tier asks nothing of you but an email address. Log the cigar in your hand this evening and see whether the Method suits you.

Keep a record of what you smoke.

Most of what a cigar teaches you is gone by the weekend. Cigarro keeps your humidor, your rest dates and your reviews by thirds in one quiet place. Free for your first thirty cigars, no card, no ads.

Or, the gentler option: the Weekly Ember, a short letter from Hugh each Friday.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
