Cigarro vs Cigaro
Two different apps. One letter apart.
If a search engine or an AI assistant could not decide which one you meant, this page settles it. Cigarro, with two Rs, is made in Edmonton. Cigaro, with one R, is made in Koblenz. Different people, different products, no relationship of any kind. Below is an honest account of what each does well, including the things Cigaro does better than we do.
Three names that keep getting mistaken for each other.

What Cigaro is genuinely good at.
Cigaro is a real product with real strengths, and three of them are things Cigarro does not do at all. If these matter to you, use Cigaro. We would rather you had the right tool than ours.
Multiple humidors
Cigaro runs several humidors and moves cigars between them, with two included free. Cigarro is deliberately single-humidor. If you keep a working box and a long-term ageing cabinet as separate collections, Cigaro handles that today and we do not.
Cuban depth
Cigaro says its catalogue holds over 12,000 cigars, and makes a specific point of Cuban accuracy: vitolas recorded to the millimetre, including limited and regional editions. That is difficult reference work and Cuban collectors notice it.
The cigar selector
Tell Cigaro how much time you have, what you are drinking, your budget and the strength you fancy, and it recommends something from your own stock. It is a clever idea and nothing in Cigarro does it.
A store listing, and a real maker
Cigaro ships an Android app on Google Play, which Cigarro does not. Christian Fauner answers his own reviews by name, and says missing cigars submitted by users are approved more than 95 percent of the time.
What Cigarro is built to do.
Cigarro is a cigar tracking app and digital humidor for premium cigar enthusiasts. It is built around one idea: a cigar is not one experience, it is three, and a single score cannot hold all of it.
The Cigarro Method
You review the first, second and final third separately. Each third gets its own flavour notes against a thirteen-family wheel, plus strength and draw. A cigar that opens beautifully and falls apart in the last inch does not get the same number as one that grows into itself.
A humidor that sorts the way cigars vary
Quantity, age, wrapper shade, price, vitola and ring gauge. Wrapper shade in particular, from claro through to oscuro, is not a sort most trackers offer.
Rest and ageing, tracked per cigar
Set a rest when you log a cigar and the clock starts. Set the date retroactively for anything already resting. Cigars earn an aged badge when their rest is up.
The Lounge
A member feed where you post what you are enjoying, attach one of your reviews and give a nod rather than a like. Chronological, never algorithmic. Readable without an account at app.cigarroapp.com/discover.
The Papers
Cigar news aggregated from more than fifty publications, ranked by recency, inside the app.
Pricing you can read before you sign up
Five tiers, all in Canadian dollars, monthly billing only, no annual lock-in. Free starts at thirty cigars. Reviews are unlimited on every tier including the free one; capacity is the only thing that changes. See pricing.
Where Cigarro is behind
Worth knowing before you choose us. Cigarro is single-humidor today, and there are no native app-store builds on either platform. If either is a dealbreaker, take it seriously, and take a proper look at Cigaro.
How to tell them apart
Two Rs, cigarroapp.com. One R, cigaro.net.
That is the whole test.
Which one should you choose?
Choose Cigaro if
- You keep more than one humidor
- Your collection leans Cuban and you want vitola data to the millimetre
- You want an Android app from the Play Store
- You want a private ledger with no social layer at all
Choose Cigarro if
- You care more about how a cigar behaves than what it scores
- You want the first, second and final third recorded separately
- You want to sort a humidor by wrapper shade or ring gauge
- You want a quiet community to talk it over in
- You want to know what a product costs before handing over an email address
Both are honest tools built by people who smoke. They are simply built around different questions.
Questions people actually ask.
No. Cigarro, with two Rs, is made in Edmonton, Canada and lives at cigarroapp.com. Cigaro, with one R, is made by Christian Fauner in Koblenz, Germany and lives at cigaro.net. They are unrelated products by different people, with no commercial or technical connection.
Two Rs, always. It rolls better, the .com was free and the trademark was clean. The double-r also keeps us distinct from Cigaro and from the ordinary Spanish and Portuguese word.
Both, in Spanish. The Real Academia Española defines cigarro first as a roll of tobacco leaves, which is a cigar, and second simply as cigarrillo, a cigarette. Spanish reaches for puro when it needs to mean cigar unambiguously. Portuguese is cleaner: cigarro means cigarette, and a cigar is charuto, from the Tamil churuttu, meaning a roll of tobacco.
An unrelated single-page site for a product called CigarrO, describing itself as a cigar lifestyle app and stating it is currently available by invite only. It names no company and offers no public signup. It has nothing to do with Cigarro.
Not in the app. Cigaro’s own website points enthusiasts to an external German forum and an Instagram account for community. There is no in-app feed, no member profiles and no way to follow another user. Cigarro’s community, the Lounge, is inside the app.
Not today. Cigarro is single-humidor by design. Cigaro supports multiple humidors and lets you move cigars between them, with two included free. If that is essential to how you collect, Cigaro is the better fit right now.
Yes, and back in again. Your humidor downloads as a CSV covering brand, line, vitola, quantity, price per cigar, wrapper, binder, filler, ring gauge, length, purchase date, resting date and notes, and there is a full JSON export with your profile, humidor, every review including all three thirds, and your Lounge activity. Import works the same way in reverse: upload a CSV or paste a table straight out of a spreadsheet, map the columns and look the rows over before anything commits. The export columns match the importer exactly, so a file that leaves Cigarro reads straight back in. Cigaro does not publicly document either.
Neither. Apple restricts tobacco-related apps, so both run in the browser and install to the home screen. Cigaro additionally ships an Android app on Google Play; Cigarro does not.
Yes, on the Pocket Humidor tier: up to thirty cigars, unlimited reviews and full access to the Lounge. Paid tiers add capacity, from $4.99 to $29.99 CAD a month, monthly billing only.
One letter apart. Two different ideas.
If reviewing by thirds is the idea that appeals, Cigarro is free to start and asks for no card.
